Humpty Dumpty and the Fall of Colchester

Colchester, Essex, England (map) Dated: 1648
We all know the famous nursery rhyme, telling the tale of Humpty Dumpty and you may even have see the illustration of the character, in Lewis Carroll's 'Alice through the Looking Glass' - a large, round egg-like person with arms and legs, sitting on a wall! However, the rhyme is very old and the original Humpty Dumpty was something very different.
